Ways to Donate

Our goals are simple: create more cancer survivors, eliminate disparities in mortality rates among Black women, and galvanize communities to take part in the fight against breast cancer. Your donations will enable us to offer outreach programs that educate the community about important health issues, help patients access state-of-the art screenings and treatments, provide caring services to patients who are going down the path to recovery, and celebrate survivors who have overcome the battle of their lives and serve as inspirational role models to us all.

My Sister’s Keeper Initiative

Sponsoring Praise Is The Cure’s My Sister’s Keeper Program (MSKP) provides real benefits beyond our annual events, creating favorable impressions, long standing visibility, and strengthened meaningful relationships within our sphere of influence of over 100,000 supporters. MSKP attempts to meet the needs of women who need support in taking steps to address their health care issues. We have initiated a few outreach efforts that assist women in various stages of their journey.

Proactively, Praise Is The Cure ® reaches out to women who have not had their mammogram and/or other screenings to refer them to medical facilities that offer mammograms and other health screenings to insured, underinsured and/or uninsured patients. We have partnered with area health care systems to provide screenings at low or no cost to underinsured and uninsured women. Our goal is to increase the number of women who seek early access to mammograms and other screenings and state-of-the-art treatments.

Dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis and navigating cancer treatments is a difficult journey for both the patient and their families. My Sister’s Keeper Program (MSKP) provides support to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are undergoing treatment. We attempt to uplift the spirits of our sisters and their families by sending comfort care packages, offering companions to accompany them to their cancer treatments, and providing occasional meals through gift cards to area restaurants. Your donations enable us to expand our services as well as increase the number of sisters we can support.

Educational Forums

There are so many myths and misconceptions in the Black community regarding our health, in general, and in particular, breast cancer. To expand the reach of our Week of Hope Health and Healing programming, Praise Is The Cure ® will plan and organize educational forums for the general community. The main purpose is to share new information and to provide a means for participants to increase their knowledge about topics impacting the well being of their community. Forums will be held in communities throughout the Philadelphia region. Donations will help to continue offering programs at no cost to participants.

Week of Hope, Health, and Healing

Praise Is The Cure ® is well known for its annual Week of Hope, Health and Healing. Several stand-alone events are planned and organized to reach every member of the community during the week. Each program targets a segment of the community potentially affected by breast cancer either personally or through a loved one. You may choose to support one or more individual program by specifying on the donation page.

Children’s Festival

Inspired by the book “My Mommy Has Breast Cancer, But She is OK” written by Kerri M. Conner, this event features story time, games and other activities for children ages two to ten and their parents. Armed with the knowledge that Breast Cancer affects the entire family, this program educates children about breast cancer and encourages parents and significant adults to have open discussions about the disease as well as other difficult topics with their children.

Breast Cancer Survivors’ Pamper Party

Women who are breast cancer survivors or current patients are invited to a come together to “celebrate life! Treated to an afternoon of spa treatments, a fashion show, door prizes, games and a delicious catered meal. The women are also honored guests at the “Celebration of Life” Musical Extravaganza immediately following the Party. The women open the concert with a Survivors’ Procession in which at least 200 survivors proudly march into the concert venue displaying their strength and courage.

Men’s Health Forum and Tailgate Party

Acknowledging the important and critical issues men confront, this forum provides a safe space for men to express themselves candidly, learn how to take care of themselves, and support loved ones with cancer and/or other health challenges. In addition to the discussion, men receive spa treatments, an auto show, door prizes and a delicious meal.

Musical Extravaganza

Following the Pamper Party and the Men’s Health Forum Praise Is The Cure ® hosts a concert featuring world renowned celebrity artists as well as local talent. Aside from the featured artists, the highlight of the event is the inspirational breast cancer survivors’ “Celebration of Life” procession to kick off the program. The Musical Extravaganza is free and open to the public.
